Help our youngest pupils get the best start with the right tech in our classrooms

We have now reached our initial target and have added a stretch target! see below for details!

KEY STATS

Number of students that will benefit: 148

Age of students: 3-7

Around 6.2% of pupils receive free school dinners.

We are in 75th place of 79 primary schools in Swansea in terms of budget per pupil.

OUR PROJECT

About us

YGG Bryn Y Mor is a Welsh medium primary in the Brynmill area of Swansea very close to the sea. The Bryn Y Mor family is a close one. The school's vision is to create a caring and supportive environment that provides for the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical needs of all children.

Whilst our catchment covers a number of Communities First areas, as the school is not in itself located in a Communities First area, we are unable to receive additional funding that would be afforded to schools based in these areas.

About 6.2% of the population of the school receives free school dinners. However, this may not be a true reflection of how many children are entitled as the criteria has become more complex, leading some families to not take up this benefit. YGG Brynymor is in 75th place of 79 primary school in Swansea in terms of the school budget per pupil.

Whilst we have an active PTA, in an ageing building such as ours funds raised often need to be used for essential maintenance such as refurbishing the pupil toilets and creating outdoor shelters in our small yard.

What do we want?

We want to buy 6 Chrome books. If we are lucky enough to exceed our target we will use the additional funds to buy headsets to help reduce the noise in the classroom whilst pupils are using the Chrome books. Our building is old and the acoustics are not geared to 21st century learning!

Who is this for?

This is for our foundation phase pupils, to introduce them to IT and to support their learning across the curriculum, from, literacy to maths to discovering more about the wider world and engaging in the digital arts.

Why do we want it?

One of the school's key aims is to ensure that everyone works towards enabling all pupils to achieve their full potential in the Basic Skills of Literacy, Numeracy and Information, Technology and Communication. Achieving this goal is key to our pupil's future success, but currently pupils in the foundation phase do not have access to key technology in their classrooms and our teachers have to make do with borrowing the equipment from KS2 when it is available.

This year, the Welsh government has included online digital competency tests in the Personal Assessments from Year 2. We want our pupils taking these tests to not be held back by their lack of experience in using IT.

We have been lucky enough to have received four chrome books from Y.G.Gwyr, our partner secondary school, who are aware of how vital it is that pupils begin their tech journey at an early age in order to flourish as they continue on to secondary school. Obviously 4 between 148 is not a great ratio, so having a further 6 available to us would transform the way in which we can use the chrome books for learning.

Helpwch ein disgyblion ieuaf i gael y cychwyn gorau gyda’r dechnoleg gywir yn ein dosbarthiadau.

 Prif Ystadegau

Nifer y disgyblion fydd yn elwa: 148

Oed: 3-7

Fel ysgol rydym yn y 75ed safle o 79 ysgol gynradd yn Abertawe yn nhermau cyllid y pen.

Mae 6.2% o’n disgyblion yn derbyn prydau ysgol am ddim.

Ein Prosiect

Amdanom ni:

Mae YGG Bryn-Y-Môr yn ysgol Gymraeg yn ardal Brynmill, Abertawe, yn agos iawn i’r môr.  Mae teulu Bryn-y-Môr yn un agos.  Gweledigaeth yr ysgol yw creu awyrgylch gofalgar a  chefnogol sy’n gofalu am anghenion ysbrydol, moesol, diwylliannol, deallusol a chorfforol pob plentyn.

Er bod ein dalgylch yn cynnwys nifer o ardaloedd Cymunedau yn Gyntaf nid yw’r ysgol ei hun wedi’i lleoli mewn ardal Cymunedau yn Gyntaf.  O ganlyniad nid yw’r ysgol yn derbyn cymorth ariannol ychwanegol fel y mae ysgolion sydd wedi eu lleoli yn yr ardaloedd hyn.

Mae tua 6.2% o ddisgyblion yr ysgol yn derbyn prydau ysgol am ddim.  Fodd bynnag, nid yw hyn o bosib yn adlewyrchiad cywir o sawl plentyn sy’n gymwys i dderbyn y cymorth hwn ers i’r meini prawf ddod yn fwy cymhleth.  O’r 79 ysgol gynradd yn y ddinas,  YGG Bryn-y-Môr yw’r 75ed yn nhermau cyllid y pen.

Er bod gennym CRA gweithgar ac ymroddgar, yn aml bydd unrhyw arian a godwyd yn mynd tuag at gynnal a chadw ein adeilad gan ei fod mor hen. Yn y gorffennol mae’r CRA wedi ariannu gwaith angenrheidiol megis adnewyddu toiledau’r disgyblion a chreu ardaloedd cysgodi awyr agored ar ein buarth bach.

Beth yr ydym ei eisiau?

Rydym eisiau prynu 6 chromebook i’r ysgol.  Pe bawn yn ddigon ffodus i godi mwy o arian na’r targed byddwn yn defnyddio’r arian ychwanegol i brynu clustffonau arbennig i leihau sŵn yn y dosbarth pan fydd y plant yn defnyddio’r chromebooks. Nid yw acwsteg ein hadeilad ysgol yn addas at ddysgu yn y ganrif hon!

I bwy?

Bydd y chromebooks ar gyfer ein disgyblion Cyfnod Sylfaen er mwyn cyflwyno TG iddynt a hefyd i gefnogi eu dysgu ar draws y cwricwlwm – nid yn unig ym meysydd llythrennedd a rhifedd ond hefyd hybu eu gwybodaeth o’r byd ehangach ac wrth ymwneud â’r celfyddydau digidol.

Pam yr ydym eisiau hyn?

Un o brif amcanion yr ysgol yw sicrhau bod pob disgybl yn cyrraedd ei botensial llawn yn y sgiliau sylfaenol sef rhifedd, llythrennedd a thechnoleg gwybodaeth a chyfathrebu.  Mae cyflawni hyn yn gwbl allweddol i lwyddiant ein disgyblion yn y dyfodol, ond ar hyn o bryd nid oes gan ddisgyblion y Cyfnod Sylfaen fynediad i dechnoleg elfennol yn eu dosbarthiadau ac fel arfer mae’n rhaid benthyg o ddosbarthiadau CA2 pan fydd ar gael.

Eleni, mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi cynnwys profion gweithdrefnol digidol ar lein fel rhan o’r profion cenedlaethol o flwyddyn 2.  Rydym eisiau i bob plentyn allu cyflawni’r profion hyn yn hyderus ac heb fod dan anfantais oherwydd eu diffyg profiad o ddefnyddio’r dechnoleg.

Rydym wedi bod yn ffodus iawn i dderbyn pedwar chromebook gan Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr sy’n ymwybodol o bwysigrwydd defnyddio technoleg o oedran ifanc er mwyn ffynnu wrth iddynt barhau i addysg uwchradd.  Yn amlwg nid yw 4 chromebook rhwng 148 o ddisgyblion yn ddelfrydol a byddai cael 6 ychwanegol ar gyfer y Cyfnod Sylfaen yn trawsnewid y ffordd yr ydym yn gallu defnyddio’r chromebooks wrth ddysgu.

I ble mae’r arian yn mynd:

6 x HP11 AMD 6MR22EA @ £218.64 yr un ( gyda TAW)

Is-gyfanswm= £1318.34 (gyda TAW a chludiant)

+ 3% ffioedd prosesu taliadau (a godir gan y darparwr taliadau)

Cyfanswm Mawr = £ 1,357.89

Pe bawn yn codi mwy na’r targed, byddwn hefyd yn prynu 30 set o glustffonau lleihau sŵn fydd yn fuddiol i’r plant ar draws yr ysgol gyfan.  Y gost fyddai £269.70 yn cynnwys TAW.

Helpwch ni i gyrraedd ein targed!

Byddai’n wych be bai pawb sy’n gweld yr apêl yma yn rhoi cyfraniad ond wrth gwrs nid oes  gan bawb arian sbâr.  Os na allwch chi gyfrannu eich hun, a wnewch chi rannu ein hapêl gyda ffrindiau, teulu, cydweithwyr, ac ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol, drwy ebost neu ar lafar. Cefnogwch ni a gwnewch wahaniaeth sylweddol i’r disgyblion.  Mae’r ddolen ar ben y dudalen.
