What are we all about?

Clayton Hall Academy is based in Newcastle (Stoke-On-Trent), and is one of three schools that form United Endeavour Trust. The aim of this project is to support the learning of students within our Thrive centre, which is based on Clayton Hall Academy site. Since January 2018, the Thrive Centre supports students from across all schools within the trust where for a number of different reasons students find it difficult to engage with mainstream education.

The THRIVE Centre consists of a large community space where both learning and social/emotional interventions take place. Adjacent to this space are two smaller interventions rooms; where the delivery of curriculum lessons and 1:1 or group THRIVE therapeutic interventions take place from both internal staff and external professionals.

The aim of the THRIVE Centre is to support students from across the Trust who may be disengaged from mainstream education, or for social and emotional reasons need a more supportive and nurturing environment. The Thrive Approach supports students social and emotional wellbeing for learning and the bespoke strategies and activities identified to support individual students fills any gaps in their development; evidencing positive outcomes both personally and in academic progress.

What do we want?

A class set of iPads to allow for interactive learning.

Who is this for?

This project will allow for any students who access support from our THRIVE Centre, either through receiving their curriculum lessons in THRIVE or by accessing bespoke intervention. Students from across the Trust will benefit from this resource.

Why do you want it?

At present, students who attend THRIVE are receiving the curriculum predominantly on written tasks within work books or completion of work sheets to consolidate their learning. In order to engage the students more effectively, they need to access IT. This will ensure they are career ready and can have a full curriculum that is differentiated to their needs.

Our THRIVE Centre supports our students’ emotional wellbeing for learning. It provides a calm, safe and stimulating environment for students along with vital support for parents and carers. The aim of the THRIVE Centre is to support students in the medium term with the focus on returning them to mainstream education in the long term.

Help our students to fulfil their potential and believe in themselves
