The Arnewood School in Hampshire is a secondary school and sixth form. Our last Ofsted gained us an outstanding school status. 10% of our students have FSM, and being based at the edge of the New Forest we strive to ensure the students have as many opportunities as possible to gain experiences that help them alongside their academic classes.
Who is this for?
This is for our Digital Leaders (students in years 7-9) to help students that are unable to take part in our large sporting events, like sports day, to use a drone to film the events. They will then be able to edit the films and provide lasting memories for both the students and parents/carers.
Why do we want it?
We would like the drone for two main reasons. Firstly, as part of our larger technology plans we want to ensure our students experience as much technology as possible before they leave the school. Secondly, we want to ensure all students are involved in the school's larger sporting events.
Our extra curricular technology vision
As IT Manager, I feel I have a duty to bring as much technology experience to all our students during their time at school and sixth form so they feel confident in their following years wherever that may be. It's now hard to think of a career that doesn't involve some kind of IT in its day to day tasks. If more students become knowledgeable and comfortable with technology at school, they will be able to flourish in their next stages in life. Some activities we've already undertaken to accomplish this are: being selected by Google to have a VR experience day in school, visiting Microsoft HQ, introduction of iPads to years 7-10, introduction to Office 365, code club and our highly successful digital leaders club.
Including all students
In our larger sporting events, like sports day, we like to ensure that we include students of all abilities. Sometimes it may not be possible for students to take part in the physical activities for various reasons. If the digital leaders were to help these students film the sporting events with the drone, then edit the film for release to parents/carers and students, we would be able to ensure that these students still feel that they play a major role in the event. This also creates lasting memories for students, parents and caregivers, who will be able to see their child's sporting successes.
WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
1x Parrot Bebop 2 Drone £449.99
Total = £449.99 (incl VAT* & delivery)
If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy an additional battery for the drone at £59.99
HELP US REACH OUR TARGET!
Please help these amazing students keep their passion for technology, work as a team and provide lasting memories with their drone films!
This could be through helping us with our financial target but also sharing our story for others to see. Thank you from all of us!
