We've already reached our target thanks to the amazing generosity of our donors! We are now looking to buy an extra 5 Crumble kits @ £159.50, so our new total is £340.
Number of students that will benefit: 150
Age of students: 7-11
Percentage eligible for free school meals: 1.9%
We are Edlesborough School in Buckinghamshire. We pride ourselves on our beautiful setting, exemplary pupils and hard-working and dedicated staff. As a school, we strive to achieve the extraordinary together through personalised learning, a rich curriculum and working collaboratively with all stakeholders. Our pupils are highly engaged, motivated learners who hold high personal aspirations.
What do we want?
We would like to add to our crumble starter kits to allow children to really stretch themselves in their coding and inquiry projects. Crumble allows children to combine computing and science, creating sets of code which result in a physical output. Our digital leaders have been trialing the kit we already have in school but have identified a need to expand on the pre-existing sets in order to really push their learning on.
Who is this for?
This equipment will be used across our Key Stage 2 classes, with digital leaders first becoming experts.
Why do we want it?
Coding has become a huge part of the computing curriculum but often is a stale, on-screen activity. Learning should be meaningful and real, and crumble allows coding to come to life. Practical activities allow learning to become much more embedded and children show a greater level of determination when they can see that their learning has meaning. Programming an actual light to come on when someone walks past it is much more exciting that programming an on-screen turtle.
