OUR PROJECT

About us

Grange CE Primary School is in the South Lakes on the Cartmel Peninsula. The school is situated on the hill above the town and has a large sports field, plus two playgrounds and a grassed play area with large equipment. In addition there is a wild area and a garden where the children can grow their own plants. The school has a purpose built nursery class with a covered resourced teaching area for the nursery and reception classes.

The school is a C of E (Controlled) Primary School, with a strong partnership with our local church St Paul’s. Our philosophy and ethos reflect Christian values, we have well behaved, motivated and confident children who think of others and are keen to learn.

Grange CE School is a place where children really matter and every individual’s ability is recognised, developed and rewarded. We know that happy children make better progress. Our dedicated and forward thinking staff are committed to providing the best for every pupil and we take a pride in the good relationships we have with parents.

Grange CE School is well equipped with educational materials and resources for PE.

We have an after school club known as Kids’ Club and a breakfast club for parents who need wrap around care for their children.

What do we want?

A new computer suite.

Who is this for?

The whole school.

Why do we want it?

We currently have a computer suite where the computers have been 'patched up' and fixed for the last 10 years. They are now beginning to reach the extent to which they can be 'patched up' which is leaving us with issues teaching both the computing curriculum and developing other areas of the curriculum further.

By purchasing new computers for the suite this will mean that all children in our classes will be able to use a computer individually rather than having to share with others. This will mean that children will be able to develop their own computer skills such as touch typing (an activity which is impossible to complete when sharing computers), mouse control and programming. It will also mean that children can use the computer programmes that we have purchased to develop maths and English skills on an individual basis meaning greater personal achievement and learning.

Currently it is very difficult to take whole classes and younger classes into the computer suite due to the lack of functioning machines. This has led to computing lessons becoming more difficult to teach. The new computer suite would prevent this and revive our computing curriculum once again.

Further to this, the computer suite would also be able to be used more regularly as the computers can be relied upon to work and load the required programmes at an acceptable speed; meaning teachers can plan more exciting and involved lessons. The use of computers always engages the children further so this will help support their learning in all curriculum areas as well as their enthusiasm for the subject.

The funding will mean that time in the computer suite once again becomes an exciting and engaging time for both children and staff where technology can be relied upon rather than avoided.
