my project

Our school is a small village church school in Derbyshire. We are a nurturing school which likes children to be involved in every aspect of learning. We have just been awarded an outstanding rating from a recent church school inspection which we are ecstatic about. A big reason for our recent award was the involvement children have during our daily worship.

What do you want?

We would like to be able to buy a new CD player for our hall which will enable children to actively tale part in our worship sessions. With the CD player also having bluetooth and a USB connection this will aid our PE lessons too.

Who is this for?

The CD player would be used by all of our children and would be used across the curriculum including PE, music and lunchtime as the children have music playing whilst they eat.

Why do you want it?

Music plays a huge part in our school and in children's learning. We listen to music during worship, when writing independent pieces and whilst eating our lunch. A CD player plays a very big role in our worship sessions. Children take ownership of the music by being music helpers, they choose the piece of music the rest of the school listens to whilst entering and leaving worship. The children use the CD player to select the track and volume and start and stop the piece at the correct time. Children love this aspect to worship, it allows them to be independent, to have an important role in our worships and to work together. They are really missing this part of our daily routine. As a small school we don't have the budget in order to replace our CD player for one which will last us a long time.
