OUR PROJECT

About us

Portlethen Primary School is an amazing school which is situated in Portlethen, just outside of Aberdeen, Scotland. We use the Curriculum for Excellence to teach children from Nursery to Primary 7. Digital technology is becoming a core skill that all learners will need to develop for the jobs of the future. We have enthusiastic teachers who are willing to deliver progressive and exciting lessons for coding but we lack the resources at the moment.

What do we want?

We would like to purchase Dot and Dash sets that would cater for children from P1 to P7. These sets would work well with our current iPads and would give scope for coding skills throughout the school setting.

Who is this for?

We would use these sets with all classes in the school. Not only could they be used to teach coding from a very early level right up to upper stages, but it could incorporate other subjects too, such as storytelling, design and technology and science.

Why do we want it?

At the moment we teach coding through the use of BeeBots and then using apps. By using Dot and Dash we would be able to extend their skills and let the children have the excitement of using a moveable, programmable toy. This would also give children the opportunity to share their learning with other year groups and visitors to the school.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

Total = £1,060.76 (incl VAT & delivery)

STRETCH TARGET

As we're fortunate enough to have raised more than our target, then we would also like to buy a Lego Boost Creative Toolbox @ £119.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-17101-BOOST-Creative-Toolbox/dp/B06X6GN2VQ

HELP US REACH OUR TARGET!

We would love to be able to use new technology with our children and to show them how it is changing. By helping us raise money you are making education approachable for any child and in a fun and exciting way.
