Plymtree C of E Primary School is a small village school in East Devon.

What do you want?

We desperately want to replace the three 15 year old desktop computers based in our entry class.

Who is this for?

These specific computers are used for teaching and learning in our combined reception and year 1 class as well as before and after school clubs, and lunchtime use by pupils across the school .

Why do you want it?

The computers that currently serve these purposes are approximately 15 years old and are the only computers or equivalent that the children in reception and year 1 use. They cannot adequately support much of the latest software or stream videos, they are slow to process and generally limit the scope of the teaching of all subjects through IT in this class and hinder the progression of the children that could otherwise be achieved with modern equipment. New, faster computers with modern processors and adequate memory will allow the children to develop their IT skills and learn a range of subjects through software and web based materials which are currently not possible.

The school has recently introduced a learning platform which children across the school will be able to access more readily during before and after school clubs and lunchtimes to complete their homework and follow up on learning points monitored by the class teachers. This is particularly important for those children who do not have regular access to a computer at home.

These computers will also improve efficiency for the class teachers when uploading material to the School-Parent Portal that the school has recently introduced to share the children's in-school activity and progress with parents and guardians.
