This is a beautiful, tiny school in a very rural location. The children have a desire to learn and thrive on the enrichment that we try to bring to the curriculum. However, we are quite geographically isolated, so taking any group outside of the school is a costly experience. Budget is increasingly tight, so our ability to offer outside visits is lessening.
What do we want?
We want to purchase a VR reality day which will bring a new exciting way to learn into our classrooms.
Who is this for?
This is for our Key Stage Two Pupils who are currently following a learning theme entitles 'Around the World in 66 days'.
Why do we want it?
The aim is to bring the world to our community. We champion global understanding and empathy and endeavor to widen the children's understanding and experience of the world outside of their community. The intention is to celebrate the Commonwealth and games and the world cup this summer. We will link a small school in Africa and one in Birmingham by letter writing. Each class will take a continent to focus on during the summer term.
Virtual reality will allow our students to visualise their SMSC and Geography lessons more clearly and allow them to interact with subject matter in a totally new way. It will enable them to experience places they have never been, which will open up horizons and develop not only the thirst to learn but the desire to reach out .
