over the past six years
We're an 11-18 comprehensive secondary school in the North East of England (County Durham). We truly are comprehensive in both name and nature. Our catchment area includes students from both the more well off to the most deprived in the country but we work so that background is irrelevant to achievement and that aspiration is not limited by circumstance.
What do you want?
We would like to purchase a set of Pi-Top Ceeds so that we can make more use of a class set of Raspberry Pis that we have. At the moment the Raspberry Pis are hard to use in the classroom due to the time cost of setting them up with the existing equipment. We believe that by purchasing the Pi-Tops we will put more fun into using the Raspberry Pis and make it more accessible for students to access the power behind them.
Who is this for?
We would like to use them with our popular Code Club, but with an aim to make use of them within the timetabled curriculum lessons.
Why we want it
We believe that having this equipment will have an impact on the uptake of girls into Computer Science and coding due to the extra things that we can do on the Raspberry Pis that are more inclusive and accessible to all students (not just the boys)... for example, using the Raspberry Pi sense hats to record data and to code animations on the 8x8 LED screens.
