OUR PROJECT

About us

Woodlands Academy is a specialist school based in Spilsby, Lincolnshire. Our school provides educational support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Despite the challenges of being a rural school on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, we maintain an “Outstanding” Ofsted rating.

The school provides a varied and engaging curriculum through the use of technology and community engagement. Our staff and pupils worked in partnership to create the “Woodlands Project”, a forest school next to the school. This area of undeveloped marshland was transformed into an educational resource helping our children to develop a variety of skills. Each curriculum subject has its own dedicated space for our pupils to use the Forest school for Maths, Science, Music. Pole lathes and shave horses allow our pupils to gain hands-on experience. Through this, they also develop a knowledge of traditional and artisan woodworking. Our pupils are so proud of this area. Whenever we have guests, they are eager to show off the "Woodlands Project."

The Academy has thriving Animation and Photography courses. In recent years, our Animation class worked alongside the University of Lincoln and the BBC to create a TV show for the school. The Photography course helps children to reach their potential with many pupils going straight into a Level 2 college qualification. During this course, our pupils develop the skills needed to use photo editing software to create the best possible images.

What do we want?

We would like to buy PCs.

Who is this for?

These PCs will be for use by the whole school across a range of subjects. More specifically, they will allow us to develop our Animation and Photography curriculum further as children can become more knowledgeable on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and iClone. Our older pupils begin using Microsoft Office to support them in their education and prepare them for life in the workplace.

Why do we want it?

Further PCs will mean our pupils have the opportunity to spend more time using specialist software or undertake school work. Improved access to this equipment and software means we can provide our pupils with a pathway into further education or a career in these specialised areas.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

2 x PC @ £575 each

Total = £1,150 (incl. VAT)

STRETCH TARGET

If we are fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we will purchase further PCs for the school.
