OUR PROJECT
About us
We are Ackworth Howard School, a Church of England school based in Ackworth, Yorkshire.
What do we want?
At Ackworth Howard, we love computing. We have invested heavily in new laptops and Smartboards for the whole school, and thanks to a donation from the HSA we have started to purchase some physical computing equipment (gadgets!) to help bring computing to life and show the children the real world applications of their digital work. We'd like to purchase a 3D printer and a class set of Makey Makeys.
Who is this for?
The digital leaders will be responsible for helping the whole school make full advantage of the new equipment, from Nursery to Year 6.
Why do we want it?
Our children are skilled computer scientists and we want to bring their creations into the physical world by investing in some physical computing equipment. A 3D printer will allow the children to see their digital creations realised by printing tangible pieces of art.
Our own Makey Makey gadget funded by the HSA has already had a big impact in Code Club and during the Inspire Mornings. We'd love to have a class set to allow the whole school to explore how they can physically control their digital creations.
