Summary

We are looking to raise money for a project with the Anson Primary School Digital Leaders to develop 360 degree resources for education.

The Students

Our Digital Leaders at Anson embrace technology. As a school we have 41 languages, nearly one-third of pupils have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and yet we have some of the best progress in the country. Our students love to learn, endeavour to explore and expect to innovate.

OUR project

The vision is to make resources for all the children in the UK to become familiar with the world around them. The Anson Digital Leaders will capture the cities, towns, villages and the countryside using 360 degree technology. They will give children across the country the chance to be at the seaside, and explore the human and physical features that make our country great.

While there are many resources out there showcasing the wonders of our country, there is nothing filmed by children, for children. In the Google Expedition video - where Google brought in products for our children to test - you can see just how engaging the technology can be.

Back in 2010 we ran a filmmaking project to bring London to life and linked this with augmented reality. The project engaged the children and helped them to learn more about their city.

With 360 degree filming we can take this a stage further as children go to places they may never be able to experience. Google Expeditions can take us to Ancient Egypt, outer space and even inside Hogwarts, but geographically some of our children never leave Cricklewood. This is an opportunity to make that happen and open their eyes to the world around them.

We plan to begin with the children's hometown of London, celebrating the multi-cultural diversity and exploring some of the key landmarks and areas. The children will narrate and label the images as we explore the physical features that make a city.

We will then move into the Hertfordshire countryside to look at the leafy suburbs and bring them to life before venturing out to the coastal areas accessible from the capital.

We hope that other schools will replicate this success as our Digital Leaders build 360 degree resources for education. We will be looking to ensure that all children in the country benefit from the project by mapping the films to the UK National Curriculum.

Help us reach our target!

We are living more and more in a virtual world. While the virtual world in engaging and has educational opportunities, it only works if you are based in reality. This is a resource to empower children to reach the parts text books cannot. You don't need to give money to help our Digital Leaders to succeed! Please share this project with anyone you think would support us – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence or on your blog.

And we know we said you don't need to give money to help us, but we'd love it if you did! Real money. No virtual currencies are accepted! Please support us and help our Digital Leaders bring the world around them to life.
