OUR PROJECT

About us

We are a boys school based in Bedford.

What do we want?

We want to buy some basic PCs to build a Linux network for programming and hacking.

Who is this for?

This is for the whole school.

Why do we want it?

This will give the pupils the ability to experiment with building, modifying and creating computer systems without the security constraints of the school network. It will allow them to build apps that will be of benefit to the school and hopefully the wider community.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

5 x Intel-based computers with basic components in tower cases including monitors, keyboards and mice

1 x Intel-based higher spec computer that can be configured as a Linux-based server

Total = £750 (incl VAT & delivery)

STRETCH TARGET

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy additional PCs.

HELP US REACH OUR TARGET!

We want to open the lab up to other neighbouring schools and to the local community to encourage young (and older) people to experiment with building and modifying network. The UK has a shortage of hardware and software specialists and this is a great opportunity to create a HackLab within Bedford.
