OUR PROJECT

About us

Banchory Primary School is situated on Royal Deeside, eighteen miles west of Aberdeen. It is one of two primary schools serving the small leafy town of Banchory, which has grown considerably during the last 30 years as a result of North Sea oil development.

The school is located on the same campus as Banchory Academy and Community Education complex. There is an enclosed playground, bark play area, and sports field where the children can play safely and under staff supervision.

What do we want?

Banchory Primary school has recently started a Code Club, where we have introduced the coding programme Scratch. Whilst we are having fun using this programme, we would love to develop our skills further by using a variety of programmes.

We would love to purchase a few Micro:bit computers and RaspberryPi computers to allow us to create interactive games and displays. We would like to introduce coding to the Early Years through a variety of iPad apps such as Lightbot.

We would really like to increase the presence of digital technology within BPS and would love if you could help us.

Who is this for?

The resources will be used initially by the Code Club and individual classes from P5 to P7 as part of the curriculum - before being introduced to the other classes.

Why do we want it?

We would like to make learning fun and would love to have the opportunity to enhance learning experiences by creating a variety of projects. We feel that by using code and the mini computers, everyone in the school will be able to engage with the curriculum. Technology is ever changing and is developing quickly, we feel that using technology and learning code is a skill required for life and the work place.
