About us

Hello we are the TechMasters, the digital change-makers in our school! Cadoxton Primary School is a 2 form entry primary school in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. We cater for a range of pupils, with 31% of pupils identifying as having additional learning needs, greater than the national average of 16%. We are currently a pioneer school and are working with the Welsh Government and other schools to take forward developments relating to the new curriculum and professional learning.

What do we want?

At Cadoxton, and as TechMasters, we continually strive to engage learners in up-to-date technology so we can equip Cadoxton pupils for the ever-developing world. We want our Technoden to invite digital curiosity, and as TechMasters, we want to further inspire digital learning, for example through Google Earth’s Virtual Reality, by creating a Virtual Reality space in our Technoden. We would like to increase the Technoden’s arsenal of tools to support other pupils with the most up-to-date innovative technology. Therefore, we would like to create a Virtual Reality suite in the Technoden comprising of 5 Oculus GO Headsets.

Who is it for?

This project would allow the TechMasters, pupils, parents and the wider-community to access a range of virtual and augmented reality apps in small groups or class situations, immersing themselves into historical recreations (for example a WW1 topic to visit the Battle of Somme) and geographical locations (exploring tourist attractions and researching countries cultures). Experiences children may not have the opportunity to have. Cadoxton Primary School is part of a four schools collaboration where neighbouring schools have a shared approach to learning, meaning others schools share resources.

Why do we want it?

As you can see, we are very lucky to have iMacs in our Technoden along with other exciting digital technology, but with increasing numbers of pupils who need additional learning support, curious learners will not always get the access to high quality digital learning that they deserve. By creating a Virtual Reality suite in the Technoden, this will give children the opportunity to tap into their imagination and ignite a desire to write and become fascinated with digital literature through virtual reality learning experiences! Changing learners attitudes to our learning.
