OUR PROJECT

About us

We are a one form entry school based in the small town of Whitby, on the East Coast. We have a two nursery buildings on our school grounds and then classes from Reception up to Year 6. We have over 200 pupils at Airy Hill Primary School, including Nursery children.

What do we want?

We are desperate for computing resources. We are currently making do with some very old, very unreliable laptops that are not allowing us to access the curriculum very well. We would love a Computing Scheme to follow at our school and some computing equipment to access this.

Who is this for?

This is for the whole school. Staff would be using the scheme for lesson planning and the children would be using the equipment to take part in the lessons.

Why do we want it?

Having a scheme to follow would allow our staff to feel more confident when teaching the computing curriculum and it would ensure our pupils are receiving high quality lessons, in that particular curriculum area. We are living in a world that is controlled by technology and computing is one of the core subjects. The children need access to computing equipment and quality computing lessons to be able to achieve their school goals. The equipment will also support other curriculum areas and allow the children to take part in research and word processing. The particular scheme we want to raise money for will ensure that every child is taught how to keep safe online and also how to use technology in a variety of different ways. This provides opportunities to improve school work, school life and children's future and aspirations.
