OUR PROJECT

About us

Hudson is based in Maghull, Merseyside. We provide an education for approximately 200 children from 2-11 years old, from a range of backgrounds and with a range of needs. We take great pride in our true community school as it successfully provides a secure and nurturing resource for vulnerable children and families. We are privileged to offer our Children’s Centre facilities, outstanding 2 year old and 3 year old nursery provision and furthermore our specialist resourced autism base to those within our reach.

What do we want?

We wish to purchase the amazing Purple Mash system to use throughout the school and 5 more laptops. This would enable us to have the correct amount for a class of 30. We want the Purple Mash software because there is a lot more to computing than coding and Purple Mash provides this broad computing curriculum.

Moreover, it comes with free CPD, it cuts down all lesson planning time by around 30 minutes per staff member per week and it works well on Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, laptops and tablets.

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school across all subjects!

Why do we want it?

We want Purple Mash because:

  • Its '2Code' module takes the mystery out of coding.
  • It provides access to step-by-step lessons with lesson plans and tutorial videos to take children's learning from simple algorithms and block-based programming, all the way to text-based coding.
  • It enables positive online behaviours, providing the safe way for children to learn to email, blog and express themselves online.
  • We need to be able to teach the children how to use Google Apps and Google Drive so that they can use these skills in the future workplace. With the support from Google Apps, we can allow children to create their documents in the classroom and, because the laptops are portable, the children can be in any location in the school. They will have the ability to type up and save their written work, and also use the internet for lessons and to see videos which are relevant to the curriculum, further enhancing their learning.
