OUR PROJECT

About us

Glyngaer Primary School has 250 pupils and is situated in the Welsh Valleys. Our school moto is 'Learning Together As Friends, Always Doing Our Best'. We are currently on a coding journey and keen to improve computing skills in our school. We currently code through apps such as Daisy Dino, Light Bot, Scratch Junior and Scratch Online. We feel that the next step in our journey is to apply our coding skills to robotics to move forward as a school and would really appreciate donations to help us achieve this!

What do we want?

We want to buy 4 Lego WeDo 2.0 kits.

Who is this for?

This is for our Key Stage 2 pupils and will be used across the curriculum.

Why do we want it?

We would love to own the Lego WeDo 2.0 kits as we would like to provide our pupils with opportunities to see the real life effects of coding. The practical application of coding through the kits will allow pupils to work on planning, lateral thinking and analysing - especially when faced with an assembly problem.

We feel that the Lego kits will highly improve pupil engagement due to the practical and fun elements that it will bring to their coding lessons. The kits will also naturally develop problem solving and mathematical thinking as well as team working skills and creative thinking. The kits can be used with a set of 40 lessons (free and online) which would provide robotics and coding lessons for the whole of Key Stage 2.

STRETCH TARGET

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would like to buy more Lego WeDo 2.0 kits. Our school aim is to build our resources up to 16 kits to allow one kit between two pupils during coding and robotics lessons.
