OUR PROJECT

About us

Hello! We are Heworth Primary School, a voluntary funded Church of England school in York. Although we are a small school, we have big ambitions! We have a passion for computing in our school, particularly in terms of encouraging more girls to get into coding and STEM. Coding is and will continue to be a key skill that children will need to use throughout their school life and in their careers and we believe in giving children the best possible start!

What do we want?

We want to buy Cubetto coding kits for use throughout our Key Stage 1 and Early Years classes. Cubetto is a small programmable robot which teaches children the fundamentals of programming in a fun and inspiring way.

Who is this for?

This is for use in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes.

Why do we want it?

We believe that a love of coding needs to be instilled from a young age. By using Cubetto, children will have access to a high-quality programming tool which will not only teach the fundamentals of programming, but will also encourage children to write about their experiences of using Cubetto.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

1 x Cubetto Classroom Bundle, which includes:

  • 4x Cubetto Playsets
  • 2x Adventure Packs
  • 4x Directional Blocks
  • 4x Logic Blocks

Total: £1,200 (inc. VAT)

STRETCH TARGET

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy tablet devices to encourage programming in Lower Key Stage 2 using Scratch Jr.
