OUR PROJECT

About us

All Saints Catholic College is an 11-16 Specialist Humanities College situated in Huddersfield. Our primary purpose is to provide high-quality values-led academic education for all our students and to develop the sporting, creative, music and social potential of each and every one of our young people. Our students are from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and many have a variety of special educational needs.

What do we want?

We want to buy computer tablets to help our students access the modern Design & Technology curriculum more effectively, support individual learning needs and aid student creativity.

Who is this for?

These will be mainly used by KS4 GCSE Design & Technology students in Year 9, 10 and 11 to help document their design development journeys and create digital online portfolios of their fantastic ideas.

Why do we want it?

The modern D&T curriculum relies heavily on internet access and new technologies. We have limited access to computers due to high demand across the school, especially not during practical workshop lessons. Marks are often lost when development work and creativity are not logged or properly recorded by students, whereas tablets will enable instant recording of work and developments - as they happen. The wealth of information from the internet will be at the students' disposal in busy practical lessons to fuel their ideas and progress with tablets. They will also enable pupils to build their own online digital portfolio for their coursework. Tablets will give many students access to the curriculum that they may otherwise struggle with due to specific learning difficulties.
