Good morning! Our total is £6666 right now which seems like a great milestone - thank you everyone for your generosity.
Can we make it to £7000 by the end of the week? Or even £7777?
Good afternoon and happy Friday everyone,
Today we hit our target for the third time and have added more stretch goals to keep us going through the final week of campaigning. We have added one more LED projector and Quizlet subscriptions for the teaching team. Quizlet is a free tool but teacher subscriptions allow you to monitor the performance of your students - really useful. You can find out more about Quizlet by trying our Year 11 quotations quizzes here: https://quizlet.com/class/4631869/
Next year we are going to be rolling out Quizlet in a big way in Year 7 and 8 as part of our homework programme to allow students to learn and test themselves independently. Having the teacher subscription will mean we can check that students are completing homework very quickly and easily and see who needs additional support.
Today was also the first time I plucked up the courage to use the visualiser in my English lessons - in a small way - to share texts with the whole class and to do some shared annotation with Year 9, 10 and 11. It definitely added a new dimension to the students' learning and made it much more easy for us all to focus on specific sections of text. I'll be posting more here about using the visualiser for other things in my own lessons and I'll share my colleagues' experiences too once the new equipment arrives in school.
Here's our first visualiser at work in Room 37!
Here's our wonderful Year 12 English subject leaders writing thank you cards for our sponsors!
Two exciting things happened today!
I commissioned a Year 12 student to produce a thank you card for all our sponsors and she has produced something which is absolutely a thing of beauty - I am looking forward to sending it out to all our sponsors soon!
A parent very generously bought us a visualiser to experiment with before we receive the Rocket Fund equipment next month. Here it is in the English office! I'll share some pictures of it at work in the classroom soon.
Morning everyone! Hope you're enjoying this beautiful snowy morning. I'm once again astonished with the generosity of all our supporters. We have made it to our first stretch target! I will be setting another even more ambitious target soon. Thanks everyone! .
Wow, we've met our funding target after just 40 minutes! I'm absolutely blown away by the generosity of all our sponsors. Please do keep pledging if you want to support us - I will post details here very soon of how we will use the additional funds to support teaching and learning at Newstead.
Thank you so much everyone for all your generosity! I am blown away by how much we have raised in half an hour...!
