OUR PROJECT

About us

Meadowfield Primary School is part of the Red Kite Learning Trust and is in Halton Moor, Leeds. The school serves two large estates with 75% of children benefiting from Pupil Premium Funding. We have a Children's Centre on site to care for children and families from birth. Recently we have developed our outdoor area with a vegetable garden; nature areas; chickens; and most recently an all weather running track.

What do we want?

We want to increase attendance for all children and their families by opening 'Parent Pod'. This would be a place for parents and carers to meet, share ideas and skills over a cup of tea, access WIFI and meet with adults in school in a more informal setting. We want to set up this space in an existing room with easy access to the playground. This space would encourage parents to promote their businesses, seek support and share in the school outcomes. The longer term aim is to have a bespoke space for parents and carers on the school site that is accessible during the school day.

Who is this for?

This space will initially be for parents and carers to access support and to encourage better attendance in school. By meeting their needs and supporting them to develop stronger links with school it will be all children who benefit from the development of 'Parent Pod'.

Why do we want it?

Children who attend school regularly have better outcomes and great life chances. To support them in this achievement we want to support parents in feeling confident that we understand their needs as well.

Parents and carers have identified that they want and need a space to meet, share and have positive time with each other and school. By providing this space we aim to build secure relationships, increase support to get into paid work and support those who may need a helping hand every now and then.
