our school

Park Community Primary School is a village school in Llay, Wrexham. Our students are the most passionate I have ever taught - they just want to learn. Recently, we had a fire at our school, which completely destroyed the canteen and smoke damage spread to the ICT Suite next door. In this room we had 25 desktop computers, which are now no longer used (due to the damage). With the introduction of the Digital Competency Framework in Wales our school strives to be a pioneer in producing films of the highest quality; allowing children to show their creativity.

Our Project

What do you want?

Due to the extensive smoke damage to equipment in the room, we would like to build a filmmaking studio. In this room children could created animated videos using Lego, or create their own films; aided by using a green screen. In our school we are aiming to increase the standards of writing (particularly in boys) and by buying equipment that will stimulate their imaginations, we hope that their writing will improve.

Who is this for?

This is for the whole school, who can use it to support work in any subject and implement the Producing strand of the Digital Competency Framework.

Why do you want it?

This equipment will unlock the imaginations of all pupils. They will feel special seeing their created films on a screen. We know that with this equipment the possibilities for using it are endless.
