OUR PROJECT

We are an Islington school of hard-working and enthusiastic children, teachers and staff. For many years we have been using out-dated, slow and temperamental hardware. We believe that every child has the ability to achieve highly and think that using new technology to stimulate and enthuse our learners will be of huge benefit. Our children are keen programmers, animators and designers already, but our resources are sadly limited.

With iPod touches, our children will be able to discover a whole new world of Augmented and Virtual reality as well as having a host of amazing educational apps available to them. Our children have used iPads to create fantastic movies and animations already, but they have been sharing one iPad between 30 children. With more resources available to them, we believe they will be able to design and create fantastic projects using a wide range of apps and software that will benefit them in all areas of the curriculum.

We have great links with Islington's computing support and our lead teacher is an expert in using AR and VR in schools. With her support, we would be really be able to make the most of the money sent and our children will have the opportunity to learn in a new, exciting and engaging way.

What we want

We want to buy a set of iPod touches and VR headsets.

Who is this for?

This is for our whole school, to use across a range of subjects.

Why we want it

Virtual reality will allow our students to visualise their history and geography lessons more clearly and allow them to interact with subject matter in a totally new way. It will enable them to experience places they have never been, which will enrich their writing and their overall curriculum experience. The apps available on iPods will also support their phonics, reading, writing and maths. The possibilities are endless...
