OUR Super Hero vr PROJECT

About us

We are the main SEMH school for the entire Royal Borough of Greenwich. We work with some of the most vulnerable young super heroes that the education system has to offer.

Waterside covers lots of areas: our main school is a super hero training base for those super heroes who are finding it tricky to manage their 'interesting' super powers within a mainstream school. Via an EHCP, they are enrolled into our super hero training school where they work with their super hero teachers to improve their control and also make amazing progress with their work. Most of our super heroes have missed on average between 18 and 24 months of education due to exclusion or non-attendance at their mainstream school.

We also support out friends around the borough with our Outreach service - where a super hero team of 12 staff work with over 180 pupils in their schools...helping to maintain their super powers. We have specialist Nurture provision, a complex ASD provision - the Nook and we host all the excluded super heroes from around the borough in our Nest.

What do we want?

We want to purchase a VR and sound recording system.

Who is this for?

This is for the entire super hero cohort across all areas of the school. No one will miss out on this amazing opportunity - we promise :)

Why do we want it?

Our super heroes can find transition difficult - resulting in a re-escalation of their previous 'interesting' behaviours.

When we go on school journeys to museums etc - which really enhance our learning, sometimes the opportunities can be lost, as our super heroes become stressed and agitated with the unknown.

We want to use VR and link it to sound, so that we can practice being in the space, in a safe, comfortable and non-intrusive way before the visit - so that when we physically arrive, our super heroes feel confident and understand what it will look like, sound like etc.

This will help de-sensitise some of their reactions to the unknown and ensure that they can access the amazing learning opportunities in front of them - whilst also having a great time!

STRETCH TARGET

If we're fortunate enough to raise more than our target, then we would also like to buy additional cameras and VR headsets so we can encourage collaboration across classes.

Total = £3145.00

HELP US REACH OUR TARGET!

Why wouldn't you want to help our super heroes become even more amazing?

Please donate what you can - anything at all which can help us meet our target. We understand you might not be able to help us financially - so why not help us by sharing this project with anyone who maybe able to?
